The ingredients used in the preparation of rasam are medicinally claimed for various ailments, which makes it a traditional functional food. The standardized procedure provided tremendous opportunity to study the pharmaceutical potential in a systematic scientific way beyond its culinary and nutritive effect.

Dr. Agilandeswari Devarajan is a passionate, innovative, solution-focused research professional in pharmacy with an exceptional blend of academic, industrial, and marketing experience. Dr. Agilandeswari Devarajan M.Pharm., PhD., PGDHM., MBA(HR)., is a doctorate in Pharmacy specializing in the Department of Pharmaceutics with 22 years of experience. Dr. Agilandeswari Devarajan is currently working as the Vice-Principal, Professor and HOD, MVM College of Pharmacy, Bangalore, Karnataka. She has been focusing her research works on Modified Drug Release Systems and advancing toward collaboration with artificial intelligence. She has always shown keen interest in incorporating natural excipients in her research, leading her to Herbal Modified Drug Technology marching towards green chemistry. She has presented papers at home and abroad conferences, published articles and papers in various journals, and contributed chapters to books.
