Biography:
Prof. Akila Chandra Sekhar studied plant sciences at the University of Hyderabad in 1999 and joined for his PhD., in the same University with Prof. Arjula R. Reddy and received his Doctorate in 2006. Later he joined the Generation Challenge Program Project in the same versity and left to the University of Bologna, Italy as IAS Fellow to work with Prof. Roberto Tuberosa. He obtained the position in Yogi Vemana University, as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Biotechnology in 2007. His area of research is Molecular Genetics and Functional Genomics, with emphasis on millet and freshwater algae.
