Biography:
Dr. Juan A. Negrón-Berríos is a biochemist and academic leader with research interest in heavy metal homeostasis across plant and animal cells, use of biotechnological tools to create a sustainable agriculture, and plant stress responses to pollution and climate change. As Chancellor of Inter American University of Puerto Rico’s Barranquitas Campus and former Dean of Academic Affairs, he has maintained interdisciplinary research and institutional innovation, securing multiple grants for scientific and educational advancement. He founded the Institute of Sustainable Biotechnology, driving biotechnology applications for environmental, agricultural, and health issues in Puerto Rico.
