Plant biotechnology is a technique for manipulating plants to meet certain requirements. Seed is the primary source for germinating a new plant in the traditional technique, but the advanced approach is self-contained and combines multiple needs to obtain the desired features. Plant biotechnology addresses issues such as transgenic crops, genomics, genetic engineering, tissue culture etc. These biotechnological applications enable researchers to detect and map genes, select specific genes in genetic resources and breed them, discover their functions and customize plants to meet specific needs by transferring specific traits genes to combine with others to create a new species.
